About us

Our Values
At Nibbles & Yips, we believe that pets deserve more than just the basics—they deserve care grounded in empathy, trust, and a deep understanding of their unique needs. We’re committed to providing emotionally safe, trauma-informed, and relationship-based services that prioritize your pet’s well-being and your peace of mind. Our team isn’t just trained—they’re chosen for their compassion, reliability, and dedication to doing the right thing, even when no one is watching. From every walk to every wellness visit, we show up with professionalism, respect, and heart—because your pets are family, and we treat them that way.

Meet the Team
At Nibbles & Yips, our team shares a common approach to pet care—one rooted in empathy, trust, and respect for each animal’s unique personality and needs. Every team member is trained through a custom program developed by our founder, Amanda Richardson, built on decades of hands-on experience with pets of all kinds and temperaments. From high-energy adventurers to anxious rescues, we understand that truly great care starts with connection. That’s why we focus on relationship-based handling and safe, compassionate practices—so your pet feels seen, supported, and safe in our care.
Amanda R.
Owner & Behavior-Informed Care Specialist

Amanda started Nibbles & Yips with a simple belief: every pet deserves emotionally safe, trauma‑aware care from someone who truly understands them. After years of rescuing and rehabilitating Siberian Huskies and other dogs with various needs and temperaments, she built a practice grounded in relationship-based support—no one-size-fits-all approach, just compassionate, well-informed attention to each unique animal.
Amanda lives in Thornton, CO with her husband, three kids, and two rescue Huskies. She personally created the Nibbles & Yips staff training curriculum, inspired by evidence-based, behavior-first methods (including the work of Sean O’Shea), and she ensures every caregiver is well-versed in relational practices, enrichment, and trauma-informed care. Under her leadership, the team delivers medical support, behavior consultations, and structured walk experiences that feel both deeply professional and wholeheartedly kind.
When she’s not coordinating care or supporting clients, Amanda can be found hiking Colorado’s trails, crocheting, or knitting—with a rescued pup curled in her lap.
Arianna W.
Dog Walker

Arianna has been surrounded by animals her whole life, growing up in a home with 3 to 5 dogs at any given time. Her experience spans a variety of breeds and personalities—from labs and boxers to pit bulls, mutts, and French bulldogs. She’s also cared for cats, guinea pigs, rats, and even hermit crabs, always considering them part of the family.

Outdoorsy by nature, Arianna enjoys hiking, camping, and paddle boarding with her dogs. When she’s not on the trail, you’ll find her sketching or listening to music. Currently studying criminal justice and criminology in college, she brings a steady, compassionate presence to the Nibbles & Yips team and is especially skilled at tuning in to the unique needs of each pet in her care.
Allie C.
Dog WAlker

Allie has always had a soft spot for anything cute and fluffy, and she’s grown up surrounded by animals her entire life. Over the years, she has cared for a wide variety of pets—from her very first fish to a frog, shrimp, guinea pigs, and dogs. After a brief season of “collecting” guinea pigs, she realized that while she loves spending time with animals, it’s often best for both her and the pets if she enjoys their company without bringing them all home.

Allie is passionate about her work and brings that same enthusiasm to everything she does. In her free time, she enjoys relaxing with friends, diving into a good book, or catching up on sleep. She is currently saving to pursue her dream of becoming an elementary school teacher and is excited for the learning and opportunities ahead.

Wren E.
Dog Walker & Pet Sitter

Wren grew up surrounded by cats–and later some dogs. They have been pet-sitting since they could first drive, starting with a family of two cats and going on to care for dogs, fish, chickens, horses, jumping spiders, and even hawks. Wren knows that no matter how big or small an animal may be, they all take up plenty of space in our hearts.
Born and raised in Colorado, Wren now focuses on their 2-year-old black cat, Bug. In their free time, they enjoy relaxing with friends, spending time outdoors, and working on puzzles or simple crafts. Wren is hoping to build a long and fulfilling career centered around pets and their families.

Benefits of Relationship-Based, Trauma-Informed Care
Reduces Long-Term Behavioral Disorders: Dogs exposed to inconsistent or traumatic early environments often develop anxiety-related behaviors. Trauma-informed care helps prevent this by acknowledging those past experiences, offering empathy, and minimizing stress triggers—which supports emotional resilience and reduces future behavioral issues.
Minimizes Reactivity by Building Trust: Caregivers who move at the pet’s pace, respect boundaries, and respond with sensitivity help anxious or reactive dogs feel safer. Over time, this consistent presence reduces reactivity and builds reliable emotional security.
Regulates Stress Hormones Through Calm Handling: Structured, calm engagement—rather than forced interactions—helps lower cortisol levels in dogs. Caregivers trained in trauma-aware methods understand how to use predictable routines, gentle cues, and appropriate pacing to support well-being.
Strengthens Human-Animal Attachment: Dogs form stronger emotional bonds when caregivers offer trust, choice, and consistency. This leads to greater emotional stability and willingness to follow cues—especially under stress.
Supports Sensitive or Rescue Dogs Specifically: Dogs with histories of neglect, abandonment, or multiple homes benefit most from relationship-based care. Trauma-informed caregivers avoid re-traumatization and instead offer environments rooted in empathy, choice, and emotional safety—fostering healing over time.
